On the Issues

Environmental Issues

“While many politicians recklessly continue to ignore the climate crisis in our country, I have diligently worked to address the environmental issues which threaten the commonwealth. It is imperative that we invest in clean energy alternatives to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and other environmentally unsound resources. I have supported legislation which increases the Commonwealth’s use of clean energy by requiring electrical suppliers to speed up their transition to alternative energy sources such as solar, hydro and wind power. I have also worked to identify Hazardous waste sites in my district and supported legislation which provides for recourses to clean up any such sites. The 179th district will be no ones dumping ground.”

Health Care

“Providing healthcare for every Pennsylvanian must be the goal of the General Assembly. The first step towards this goal is the implementation of Governor’s health care initiatives. These measures include expanding the scope of practice for medical professionals, which will provide for better access to quality healthcare for Pennsylvanians. I also believe that we must reduce hospital acquired infections, which have resulted in loss life and have cost the taxpayers of Pennsylvanians billions of dollars. If we can achieve these goals, we will ultimately improve the quality of life for all the citizens of Pennsylvania.”

Gun Issues

“I have consistently supported tougher gun control measures which would reduce violence in our communities. The prevalence of illegal guns which overwhelm our streets is unacceptable. I am a proud co-sponsor of legislation which would bring an end to “straw-purchasing”. Stopping “straw-purchasing” which often causes illegal guns to end up in the hand of dangerous criminals must be a priority. I have also supported legislation which would limit gun purchase to one gun a month. These measures are essential to combating the culture of violence which saturates of streets with the blood of our lost generation.”

Housing

“Affordable housing must be a core principle in rebuilding our community. Several months after taking office it was evident that viable housing alternatives were not available for many who live in our community. To address this issue I have brought in Housing Counselors from the Delaware Housing Association to counselor members of the community, free or charge, on the numerous issues which affect the housing stability in our community. One a weekly basis the members of the community are coming to my office and learning about first-time home buyer programs, tenants’ rights and how to avoid foreclosures. Sixty thousands units of affordable housing are needed. We must begin to utilize the Planning Commission to develop a viable solution to meet that need. Homeownership should be what we all strive for.”
